  • Students will be given basic information on all topics referring to Science.

  • For the Grade 8 Biology unit, students will mainly focus on Cellular biology.

  • In-depth topics in Biology 8 are Cell Theory, Cell structures, and Photosynthesis and Organism respiration.

  • Students will learn this topic through quizzes, laboratory experiments, written work, and eventually an Unit test to test students' learning.

  • Science 8 will focus on building up knowledge on living things, cells, and how cellular functions work within ecosystems/environments.

Biology 9 Information

  • Science 9’s learning curriculums also now add on the Core Competencies to a framework towards the student’s learning.

  • In the biology unit, students will continue learning about cells, as well as promoting the importance of Science as a whole.

  • Students will also learn new subjects, such as reproduction of plants and animals.

  • This course also involves more complex written work and laboratory activities, as well as presentations.

  • Understanding and asking questions will be a key component to exceed in the Biology unit of Science 9.

Biology 10 Information

  • Continuation in learning scientific skills, knowledge and relating to the Core Competencies.

  • Laboratory experiments will now have a primary focus on scientific problem solving and observations.

  • This course’s big ideas will be on DNA, genetics, evolution and the environment.

  • Students will learn topics like natural selection, mutations, inheritance, human impacts and more. These topics will often be taught in relation to chemistry and physics ideas to help students help visualize new information.
